Business – Sony launches touchscreen PC/TV

NEW DELHI: Japanese electronics giant Sony has introduced a touchscreen all-in-one desktop, Vaio L Touch HD PC/TV.

The system is built as an entertainment hub with PC, high-definition TV, and digital video recorder in one unit.

The PC/TV includes a 24-inch high-definition touchscreen and is available with a rewritable Blu-ray disc drive. Vaio L runs on Intel Core 2 quad-core processor, and an Nvidia GeForce series graphics processor.

Other features include a built-in TV tuner for connecting to a cable TV service and an over-the-air antenna. An HDMI input for connecting to a cable box, satellite receiver, or PlayStation 3 video-game console is also included.

The system also has a built-in digital video recorder and includes up to a terabyte of storage, capable of storing up to 100 hours of HD television. There’s also a built-in Wi-Fi.

The desktop will run on Windows 7, set for an October 22 release. The Vaio PC/TV is expected to hit the retail stores by next month.

The company also released it lightest laptop to date (1.6 pounds). Vaio X Series, is a half-inch thick and has an 11.1-inch LCD screen with an LED backlight.
