Sport – Football;Ibrahimovic won’t be Barca’s last signing: Guardiola

Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola insists Zlatan Ibrahimovic won’t be the European champions’ last major signing before the end of the transfer window.

Ibrahimovic arrived in Barcelona for a medical on Sunday and is due to complete his move from Inter Milan on Monday.

The Sweden forward is a replacement for Barca striker Samuel Eto’o, who will join Inter as part of the 40 million pounds deal.

Guardiola, speaking after Barca’s 4-1 victory over African champions Al Ahly in the Wembley Cup in London on Sunday, confirmed that he expects to follow the Ibrahimovic capture with at least one more signing.

“He (Ibrahimovic) is in Barcelona now. We hope he will sign a contract on Monday,” Guardiola said.

“I don’t think he will be the last player we sign. We are going to try to get someone else.

“We don’t know for sure if it will happen because it is hard to sign good players but we will try. It will be in a different position, we want to sign good players for every position.”

Regardless of Barcelona’s success in the transfer market, Guardiola can take heart from the impressive display of his youngsters against Al Ahly.

Bojan Krkic, 18, opened the scoring with a clinical finish before Hany El-Egezy equalised for Al Ahly. Jose Maria Rueda restored the Spanish champions’ lead with a thunderous strike and Jeffren Suarez, 21, and Pedro Rodriguez, 21, added to that lead after half-time.

“These young guys have a talent. We believe in them,” Guardiola said. “They have quality and good skills.

“For me it is important to see them in these games because they may be useful during the season.

“At Barcelona you have to play in an attractive way whether you are in the youth team or the first team.

“The top players may be expensive to buy so you have to see the young players as well and the best way to get a good level is to play.”
