It’s back to old times for STAR Plus. After being pushed to the No. 2 position twice by nine month old Colors, STAR Plus has regained its lost glory, at least in Week 17. STAR Plus, with 24 per cent relative channel share, has moved ahead of Colors, which has managed to grab 22 per cent share in Week 17, as per TAM data on C&S 4+, HSM audiences.
STAR Plus is 24 GRPs ahead of Colors in the latest week. Through Week 17, STAR Plus aired 15 movies in all, which is much higher than the average of about five-six aired by it weekly. Of these, the Hindi movie Welcome was aired without any break and four other movies were aired with just one break each. In all, STAR Plus garnered 66 GRPs from movies in Week 17.

Colors’ GRPs have fallen from 285 in Week 16 to 256 in Week 17. The channel aired two movies, Welcome and Race, without breaks on the weekend. The total GRPs earned by Colors through movies were 41.
The viewership for its flagship show, Balika Vadhu, recorded an average TVR of 4.8. Balika Vadhu airs at 8 pm, which coincides with the start of the second IPL matches. Besides, a large chunk of viewership for the show comes from Rajasthan, which is also an avid IPL loving state.
Zee TV, at No. 3 with 212 GRPs, has lost a few points and its channel share stands at 18 per cent. Sony’s relative share has gone up from 6 per cent in Week 16 to 8 per cent in Week 17. Its GRPs stand at 92 and it is the fourth most watched Hindi GEC. This could be attributed to the repeat telecast of the IPL matches the next morning on Sony. The channel has earned about 26 GRPs through the repeat matches.
NDTV Imagine, too, has witnessed a slight loss of 15 GRPs. Its relative share is 7 per cent in Week 17. STAR One is at No. 6 and commands a 5 per cent relative channel share.
The next five channels have maintained their shares in Week 17. Sahara One and SAB TV are at par with 4 per cent share each. DD1, 9X, STAR Utsav and Real have managed to garner 2 per cent shares each in Week 17.
Bidaai on STAR Plus is the most watched programme on Hindi GECs; it has recorded a highest TVR of 6.3. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, on STAR Plus again, follows at a close second with a TVR of 6.2.
Balika Vadhu on Colors has managed to fetch a highest TVR of 5.1, while Jai Shri Krishna has got a highest rating of 4.1. Zee’s Chhoti Bahu has climbed up the charts and now features in the top five list with a TVR of 4.
Some of the other most watched programmes are – Uttaran on Colors; Dance India Dance and Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo on Zee; and Sab Ki Laadli Bebo and Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil on STAR Plus.
